Hiya!
Hiya! I'm Scott, a multi-disciplinary designer with an inventive streak.
Currently based in Atlanta (by way of Nashville and the SF Bay Area), I work as a freelance design consultant for SAAS companies. I'm also co-founder of a SAAS startup serving the film & entertainment industry (CrewSpend, currently pre-launch).
P.O.V.
My way of life is all about learning, designing, and building. As far back as I can remember, I've always been tinkering with things. Pulling them apart and (most of the time) putting them back together. Figuring out how things work and deciphering the thought process behind them.
With that same sense of curiosity and play I had as a kid, nowadays I'm still looking for ways things can be improved or recombined into something new. I'm fascinated by the possibilities of how we can evolve the world around us.
Background
Like many kids of my generation, I was a Lego fanatic, happiest when surrounded by a collection of colorful, endlessly interchangeable parts, learning via imagination. As I grew, I graduated to sketchbooks, T-squares and power tools, then eventually computers. Interest in the arts led me to pursuits that fused expression and technology.
I studied architecture at the University of Michigan and then in California with several practitioners of the "organic school" in the tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright. Later, I learned to adapt the methods of architecture and construction to UX design and the creation of software.
Today, bits and pixels are my Lego blocks. I'm particularly interested in the boundary between humans and the tools we use. Which is to say, "UI". The way we shape these human interfaces can have a profound effect on our lives, our work, health, and community. I strive for the projects and products I work on to be a net benefit to all.
Beyond the "Magic Rectangles"
I'm a full-time cat dad and my hobbies include learning about film production, woodworking, vintage steel bicycles, photography and sailing.
